Big Butt Baby Pants – now with chevrons!

• Pattern: Big Butt Baby Pants by Rae Hoekstra
• Fabric: Main: Birch Storyboek Field Friends in Coral, cuff: Riley Blake Chevrons in grey + white
• Size: 6-12 months
• Date: March 2013*

Are you sick of these Big Butt Baby Pants yet? Obviously, I’m not, as this is the 3rd post about them – you can see other ones {here} + {here} – and these are probably the 10th pair I’ve made.  They’re just a great, simple-yet-effective pants pattern that lends itself to a bajillion different variations and fabric/pattern combinations.

For this version, I took in the legs about 1″ for a slightly slimmer fit. When making the cuff, I cut each piece to a circumference of 1.5″ less than the pant leg, then evenly gathered the leg to fit into the cuff. I think it creates a really cute shape, and the pant leg doesn’t get in the way of all the crawling that is going on around here.

These are definitely the last of the 6-12 months size for my little Bean – thinking ahead for fall, I’m definitely going to have to go with 12-18, or even 18-24 for her. Luckily, due to my stalking, um, “following”, of Rae and other sewers on instagram, it appears another pants pattern with some really cute details (piping! pleating!) is imminent.
